Brothers, Sisters, Family, and Friends,
I write to you this morning to share a story of the healing power of our mighty God. I have a dear friend here in Clarksville. His name is Ryan. He has a wonderful family (wife and two kids). He had a sore inside his cheek for a while. It began to bother him quite a bit. He thought he may have bit it while eating or something and the cut became infected. He went to his doctor a few weeks ago. His doctor told him it was not an infection, but that it was most likely oral cancer! His doctor set Ryan an appointment with an oral cancer specialist...for TWO WEEKS later. The next two weeks were filled with anxiety, fear, frustration, etc. etc. etc. We all prayed for Ryan and his family a lot in those two weeks. The weekend before his appointment our denomination's district had its annual Men's Retreat. That Saturday afternoon, Ryan was called to the front to kneel at the alter. Approximately 100 men of God (laymen and pastors) gathered around Ryan and laid hands on him and prayed for healing.
Let me tell you something...if you have never been in the middle of a gathering of Christians all praying together as one with one heart and mind...you need to seek out that opportunity! It is powerful. I could feel the Holy Spirit flowing through that mass of men. God was moving through us.
We all prayed aloud simultaneously for around five minutes. There was not a dry eye amongst us. That night was the first night Ryan slept in two weeks. God had taken the anxiety and replaced it with His peace. Last Tuesday, Ryan had his appointment with the cancer specialist. The specialist examined Ryan's mouth and then looked at Ryan and said, "I am not sure why your doctor sent you to me, there is NOTHING there." There was nothing, not even a sore spot, not even a hint that there was ever anything abnormal about his cheek! God healed him!
God is so very good and so gracious. Do not forget that He is always with you and always listening to your prayers. He may have chosen to answer the prayers of His covenant children with comfort and peace through a journey with cancer. And that would have been enough...but do not forget, that our God is not just the Lord of Creation, He is also our Abba (Daddy) and our Friend. We must trust in His faithfulness and believe in His power over all things in this world.
Glory be to God, The God above all things! May His grace and mercy be with all of you.
